You’re going to associate your skills with their hotbar slot and where it is on the screen, but you also need a keybind associated with that slot so you can, you know, press the button and do the thing.

I'm sure FFXIV will have updated controls as the interface for FFXI was for the PS2. Frees up total mobility for my left hand and the APM in this game is slow enough for a thumb and a dream.
